The German 100 Reichsmark note, issued between 1908 and 1910, is a fascinating piece of history. Let's dive into the details:

Front design:
The obverse depicts the heads of Mercury and Ceres, two Roman gods.
The banknote is decorated with two red seals.
The text reads: “Reichsbanknote. Ein Hundert Mark zahlt die Reichsbankhauptkasse in Berlin ohne Legitimationsprüfung dem Einlieferer dieser Banknote. 100 Berlin, day 10. September 1909. Reichsbankdirektorium". This translates as: “One hundred marks the Reichsbankhauptkasse in Berlin will pay the holder of this note without any check of legitimacy. 100 Berlin, September 10, 1909. Board of Directors of the Reichsbank."
A stern warning was also printed: “Whoever counterfeits or counterfeits banknotes, or obtains counterfeit or counterfeit banknotes and issues them into circulation, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of not less than two years.”
Reverse Design:
The reverse shows Germany seated under an oak tree, with the Imperial Navy in the background.
The note is dark blue in color and has very small dots printed on the bottom to create a distinct appearance.
The watermark shows the head of Kaiser Wilhelm I.
